Yann Crenn

From an early age, Yann Crenn developed a strong sensitivity to color and material. Between drawing and making objects in his grandfather's workshop, he built a direct relationship with gesture and experimentation that still underpins his practice today.

Born in Paris in 1999, he trained at the Ateliers de Sèvres and then at ECAL in Switzerland, where he began exploring printing and layering. His work quickly moved beyond the flat surface to incorporate relief and engage with broader questions of perception.

His first exhibitions in Paris introduced the butterfly as a starting point for work on color. More than a motif, it became a tool of exploration, from which he extracted rhythms, structures, and chromatic tensions.

Gradually, the figure disappeared. Yann Crenn developed a language at the boundary between painting and sculpture, combining plexiglass, wood, and resin, where color unfolds in space and activates the surface. The image is no longer fixed: it transforms with the viewer's gaze.

The viewer's movement then becomes an essential component of the work. Appearances, disappearances, vibrations — perception is constructed through displacement.

Represented by Galerie MARK HACHEM, Place des Vosges in Paris, he is establishing his presence on the international art scene through major fairs such as Art Miami.

His work today is part of a demanding exploration, where color, light, and material no longer compose an image, but an experience.
