Born in England, Jennifer Hornyak studied at the Grimsby School of Art before moving to Montreal in 1961. Her painting, influenced by Fauvism and German Expressionism, focuses on still life and the human figure. She constructs her works through the accumulation of glazes and textures, creating rich surfaces where color takes precedence over line. Her floral compositions, far from being simple botanical representations, are melancholic and vibrant explorations of form and light.
