Matt Devine is a self-taught American sculptor born in 1975 in Salem, Massachusetts. Now working in California, he masters industrial metals such as steel, aluminum, and bronze to create pared-down organic forms. His sculptures are distinguished by a play of contrasts between the rigidity of the material and the apparent lightness of the curves, exploring themes of order versus chaos. His monochrome series play with shadow and light to redefine surrounding volumes.
