About the Exhibition

Michael Moebius, born in 1968 in Pirna, Germany, is an acclaimed artist who ascended from the challenges of communist East Germany. Amid these challenges, he boldly illustrated characters such as Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and the Terminator—icons deemed controversial in his homeland. While society’s expectations directed him towards engineering, an encounter with Alberto Vargas’ pin-ups reignited his commitment to figurative art.

Refining his skills at Dresden’s prestigious Academy of Arts, Moebius experienced a significant breakthrough in 1989. With the Berlin Wall’s fall, he ventured to the U.S., where his exceptional painting and photography talents quickly captivated art enthusiasts. His works, a luxurious fusion of playful charm and Pop Art, frequently feature luminaries like Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn in delightful compositions. Esteemed establishments, including Playboy, Vogue, Vanity Fair, and Robb Report, have embraced and celebrated his creations, rendering them essential for discerning global collectors.

Transitioning from the rigid terrains of East Germany to the expansive freedoms of the U.S., Michael Moebius epitomizes dedication, passion, and artistic brilliance. Today, his legacy thrives, continuing to inspire and influence countless individuals in the international art sphere.
