Michael Reafsnyder is a contemporary artist who revives the painterly traditions initiated by Abstract Expressionism. His paintings feature densely filled, colorful compositions. To create them, Reafsnyder uses a full inventory of application techniques: acrylic paint is dragged, piled, or scraped straight from the tube onto the canvas. Most of his works are decorated with a “smiley face” symbol, further enhancing the playfulness of the composition.
Reafsnyder lives and works in Southern California.
