Born in London in 1914, Lynn Chadwick gained recognition as one of the 20th Century’s most important sculptors after being awarded the First Prize at the Venice Biennale in 1956. He is considered by many to be the greatest talent of his generation as well as being deigned Henry Moore’s successor. Having trained in art as well as architecture, his works display a synthesis of realism, movement and modernism. The expressiveness of his bronzes and his emphasis upon the architectonic within his compositions produces a unique and resolutely poetic pictorial language.
